There’s more Dover Street Market (DSM) for the world: The iconic London-born retail concept added its first branch in Singapore on Saturday, July 29. It is located in Como Dempsey, an exclusive mall for fashion stores and restaurants.
The new DSM store was mainly designed by Comme des Garçons (CDG) designer Rei Kawakubo who together with Adrian Joffe conceived Dover Street Market back in 2004. A large central hut complex–typical for every DSM store–marks the core architectural feature of the 1,145-sq.-meter (12,325-sq.-foot) space that has ceilings well over 10 meters (108 feet) at its highest.
Whilst Kawakubo took care of the design of the general space and CDG spaces, the external brands were left entirely free to design their own spaces. These include Balenciaga, Gucci, The Row, Sacai, Céline, Thom Browne, Undercover and NikeLab DSM SGP.
The curated DSM areas encompass a sneakers space (Adidas Consortium, Common Projects, Converse, Spalwart, Vans Vault etc.), a T-shirt space (Bianca Chandon, Bronze 56K, Dime, Dreamland Syndicate, Fucking Awesome, Union Los Angeles etc.), a jewelry space, a “Natural” space (Casey Casey, Muun, Renli Su etc.) and the general men’s (Craig Green, Doublet, Facetasm, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Mackintosh, Phoebe English, Raf Simons, Vetements, Walter Van Beirendonck etc.) and women’s space (Jacquemus, J.W. Anderson, Loewe, Robert Clergerie, Vetements etc.).

“As with all human existence, nothing ever stays still, everything is always changing, and so it is that the first outpost of Dover Street Market in Southeast Asia finds itself in Singapore, and for the first time on only one floor, in an old army barrack with the highest ceiling ever seen in any DSM or CDG store,” said Adrian Joffe, president of Dover Street Market International.
The new Dover Street Market store will complement four other stores that are located in London, New York, Ginza (Tokyo) and Beijing (franchise operation I.T Beijing Market).
For the opening, several DSM Singapore special products editions are being released, including pieces in cooperation with Gosha Rubchinskiy, Gucci, Anti Social Social Club x Vans Vault, Converse and Nike.
