Indian designer Rahul Mishra has been awarded with the International Woolmark Prize 2013/2014 at the Triennale-Museum in Milan. The prize supports extraordinary talents from any nationality in order to expand and distribute their fashion collections all over the world. Mishra’s collection fascinated all the jury, which included members such as Alexa Chung, Frida Giannini, Franca Sozzani, Tim Blanks, Angelica Cheung, Colette Garnsey, Colin McDowell and representatives of the global retail partners.

"I was particularly fascinated by Rahul's collection. His ability to bring together embroidery with wool and also to reveal the diversity of the material in such a creative and surprising way was very convincing," said Frida Giannini, Creative Director of Gucci.

In addition to the prestigious award, Rahul Mishra receives a cash prize of 100.000 AUD (€65.000 approx.) and the possibility of being distributed through some of the most recognized retailers in the world, including 10 Corso Como, Colette, Harvey Nichols,, Joyce, David Jones and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Rahul Mishra’s winning collection is characterized by the finest craftsmanship and his large knowledge of multifunctional processing techniques and embroidery. The designer declared: "I feel like in a dream, the award gives me hope and great confidence in my future as a designer. The Woolmark Prize will change the perception of the international fashion industry regarding Indian fashion. And this is thanks to wool - a great fibre that offers incredible creative possibilities."

Mishra’s line will be available at the international partnering retail stores from August. The candidates for the International Woolmark Prize 2014/2015 will be announced next April.
