The last edition of Pitti Filati held in Florence’s Fortezza da Basso from 2-4 July 2014 has registered significant results and positive feedbacks.
Forecasts on final affluence indicated they welcomed about 5,200 buyers, +8.5% compared with 2013 (4,800 in total in July 2013). Foreign visitors continue to grow registering almost +10%, and a total of about 2,800 buyers; double digit growth was registered thanks to visitors from Germany (+11%), UK (+13%), USA (+15%), France (+12.5%), Japan (+13%), Turkey and Switzerland. Further positive attendance came from upcoming new markets such as South Korea, Brazil, Canada, Australia and Singapore.
Italy registered a significant growth totaling about 7% with around 2,400 buyers.
Pitti Immagine’s CEO Raffaello Napoleone showed his satisfaction: “Companies presented their f/w 2015/2016 yarn collection - all characterized by high research and creativity - received positive comments from designers, style offices and international fashion companies’ representatives visiting the show.” And continued: “Our format integrating different actors of the productive chain shows and proves us to be a winning and synergic platform. Important confirmation came from our Knit Club area dedicated to top knitwear, the newborn section dedicated to denim Denim Italiano - Italian Denim Makers’ (read our previous coverage here) that will also be presented within the September edition of Milano Unica.”
On the third and closing day of the event, they also named the winner of the fifth edition of the “Feel The Yarn” contest born from a collaboration between Toscana Promozione, Unione Industriale Pratese-Confindustria Prato, Elementi Moda and Pitti Immagine. The winner was Matilda Norberg, a young Swedish student from the London Royal College of Art.
