Pinko, the Italian women’s and girls’ fashion brand, has signed with footwear manufacturer Zeis Excelsa a five-year licensing agreement for the creation, production and distribution of Pinko Shoes.

The debut F/W 2009-10 collection will comprise a line of fashion sneakers and casual city shoes as well as a mini-collection for girls.

Zeis Excelsa, a historic company from the footwear Marche region in Italy, has been producing shoes for 60 years under the brand names of Sonora, Docksteps, Virtus and Cult, and licensed names Merrell, Harley Davidson and Bikkembergs.

After the first two seasons in which the collection will be dominated by leisure footwear in elegant styles, Zeis Excelsa is expected to flesh out the range with a complete line of women’s footwear targeted for sale at all Pinko points of sale (more than 800 the world over) and through Zeis Excelsa licensees.

The Pinko Shoes collection, born out of a partnership between the two companies’ style offices and made entirely in Europe, represents the Pinko spirit by focusing on precious sneakers decorated with rhinestones, nappa calfskin in fashion colours and velvet, as well as total comfort of fit and outstanding overall quality.

Pietro Negra, Pinko Founder and President, says: “Zeis’ Maurizio Pizzuti is the perfect partner in terms of technical/productive and marketing/distributive capacity. He has outstanding know-how and expresses these skills with great personal charisma.”

Zeis Excelsa spa President Maurizio Pizzuti adds: “The agreement with Pinko marks a milestone in the growth of a multibranding company such as ours, completing our range with women’s fashion footwear. Pinko is a company with a young, dynamic, fresh background, an example of Italian style a lot like Zeis. I’m certain that consumers will appreciate our creativity.”
