When it comes to the Benelux market, Modefabriek demonstrated once again that it’s the place to go to for retailers and buyers based in the region. The 40th edition of the show brought international players like Levi’s, Carhartt, Blend, Bench and O’Neill (mostly in district B); accessible, fast moving brands (Districts A and C); and also some Dutch-based young fashion brands under one roof. Anecdote, for example, whose sales manager Lauren, just like the rest of the brand representatives who were asked on the fairgrounds, were satisfied with the affluence of visitors during the two days that the show took place (24-25 January). The new fair’s layout –divided into districts using colors to identify them visually- seemed to make visitor traffic smooth.

Because of their coolness, sustainable approach towards materials and production or innovative design –most times actually a mix of the three previous elements-, these are some of the most interesting labels that we came across at Modefabriek:

Old wool blankets and curtains transformed into wonderful jackets and coats. Is this possible? Wintervacht demonstrates that it is. The two Dutch designers behind the brand give new life to these forgotten textiles in their Amsterdam studio by washing, ironing and reconditioning the old fabrics to then produce the outerwear pieces by hand.

Aurélie Chadaine
Handbags and small vegetable-tanned leather goods with great material resistance and a minimalistic yet elegant design. The label also creates the perfect accessory for your sneakers: fringed removable tongues to place over the shoe laces. All pieces are handmade in France.

The Scandi wardrobe essentials that every woman will ask for. Hot seasonal trends like ribbed striped knits, V-neck pullovers, turtlenecks and wool pleated pants belong to the collection.

Mr. Ali
Sneakers are here to stay. The ones from Mr. Ali come in textured leather and fur applications on the heel counter. A sleek eye-catcher!

Bound Amsterdam
