TheMicam, the Italian footwear show held at Milan’s Rho-Pero fair closed its doors on 3 September 2014 registering 34.176 visitors– compared to 38,621 in September 2013. According to the organization, the loss is due to the decrease in Italian and Russian, Ukrainian and Kazak visitors.

“We closed an edition of theMicam looking at the future, despite the difficult situation faced by the Russian market and difficulties our domestic market is facing,” commented Cleto Sagripanti, president of the show. “Considering the choices we did we think we took the right decisions in order to facilitate visits of buyers from all over the world and can confirm and give further value to our show as a truly international event. In any case we are considering to find a correct positioning in the international trade show calendar for our winter edition. For this we will keep in mind all suggestions and opinions we heard during these days.”

A positive aspect is that the overall number of companies who visited the show has remained stable, despite the lower number of single visitors. The show’s organization interpreted this simply as a way to cuts costs from the companies.
