Last winter season saw the debut of Resident Showroom, the showroom/trade show concept during Paris Men’s Week, brought to life the industry insiders Pierre Boiselle (Edwin Europe veteran), Craig Ford (A number of names, Jacket Required) and Mark Batista (Jacket Required, Brand Progression agency). The concept that splits up into a private and an open showroom period (both for three days successively), was well received by the buyers for its well-curated selection of brands and private atmosphere.

Later on this month, Resident Showroom will start in its second season at a new location: The Bastille Design Center, a 19th century former hardware store in the 11th arrondissement, just 500m from both Place de la Bastille and Place de la République. The location offers 700 square-meters of space, split up on three floors.

Here, the organizers wish to host 20-30 brands for the private showroom days (June 21-22), which will be extended to ca. 50 brands for the main trade show days (June 23-26). Amongst the exhibitors will be a great majority of the season one participants, plus new ones from all over the globe, amongst these 6876 (UK), Descente Allterrain (JP), Master-Piece Product (JP), M.C. Overalls (UK), Buddy Happy footwear (JP), Kestin Hare (UK), Monokel Eyewear (SE), Aloye (JP), Meanswhile (JP), Tomo & Co. (JP), Billionaire Boys Club, Riceman, or 3000.systems.

We had a quick chat to co-founder Pierre Boiselle about the Resident Showroom concept and his expectations for the new season.

Why should brands exhibit at Resident Showroom rather than at any of the traditional Paris trade show?

We will be open from the 21st to the 26th split in two sessions .We are offering an extended period of time to brands and buyers within a very busy Paris. We are a small platform compared to any trade show around…which in my eyes keeps it a bit “more real” for brands and visitors. This allows us to personally exchange and discuss with all of our brands and buyers.

Which extra services are you offering the brands – apart from the sole exhibition space?

Breakfast, drinks and aperitif are included in the fee. A car service will also be offered.

We also strive to be as helpful and friendly as we can with anyone passing by…standard things really!

How are you making sure that buyers are finding their way to the showroom?

Personal invite but also by choosing this exact venue The Bastille Design Center is a wonderful space, very central and well known in the industry.

Not to mention the usual communication: Newsletter / social networks / Modem Online…

What are your future aims with Resident Showroom?

We do wish to grow but still at a human size. We want to achieve a great show for SS18, make sure that all our brands are having everything they need and a successful time with us.
