Fashion for Good is a global initiative aimed at supporting fair, innovative and sustainable new ways for producing, designing, selling and recycling fashion. The association has rented a historic building in the heart of Amsterdam in order to bring like-minded organizations and partners together. Various fashion companies, brands and no profit organizations met in Amsterdam on 30 March 2017. Among partners that have already joined the Fashion for Good initiative there are C&A, the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, IDH the Sustainable Trade Initiative, Impact Hub Amsterdam, Kering, McDonough Innovation, Plug and Play, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and Made-By, the non-profit organization supporting fashion brands and retailers improving their sustainability performance (

The association aims at gathering and supporting companies that want to produce fashion according to five “good” guidelines: good materials (safe, healthy and designed for reuse and recycling), good economy (growing, circular, shared and beneficial to everyone), good energy (renewable and clean), good water (clean and available-to-all), and good lives (involving workers whose living and working conditions are fair, safe and dignified).

Fashion for Good is based upon six different complementary programs. Among them there is “Early Stage Innovation Accelerator” by Plug and Play, a Silicon Valley accelerator whose aim is to give promising start-up innovators funding and expertise for growing; “Good Fashion Guide” is an open-source online guide that provides practical tips, a self-diagnostic tool and a step-by-step guide to production, based on lessons learned while creating the world’s first Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold cotton t-shirt by the C&A chain of stores which is entirely made of organic cotton using safe materials and produced according to social and fair standards.

Another program is the “Circular Apparel Community”aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and innovators who believe in the importance to make circular fashion business model grow.
