Looking for protection
In times of global uncertainties, security and comfort are key aspects for textiles.
Anti-bacterial and anti-viral textiles seem to be a real new must many manufacturers are betting on, though further analyses, tests and regulations shall be implemented in order to guarantee consumers real protection and functional properties (also read here and here).
Among novelties, Calik Denim’s new sustainability-driven innovation Washpro technology promises long-lasting freshness for the denim garments. With its Washpro technology, end-users will need fewer washes for their denim garments’ life cycle. As each home laundering requires much water and energy, Washpro treated fabrics help save resources. In addition, Washpro technology helps to reduce microfiber pollution in the oceans since it reduces the number of needed home washings and thus wastewater. Washpro’s freshness is long lasting even after industrial laundry treatments.
Also Orta has designed Denim Guard, a denim developed to be used every day as it guarantees anti-bacterial protection while produced by using environmentally safe technology.
Bossa has given its denims anti-bacterial properties by using silver, graphene and other finishings that guarantee soft touch effects. It also developed new sustainable products and processes.
M&J-Genesis is betting on safer textiles. For this it is developing treatments that may help jeans become microbial-resistant and protected from virus attacks. It also is studying ways for finding less expensive treatments so that the cost of the final product can be more affordable for consumers.
How Iskur looks forward
Iskur Group had already achieved some significant innovation steps as it started manufacturing smart fabrics in 2018. The company’s R&D Center hosts 31 researchers expert in various disciplines. They developed and patented fabrics that guarantee comfort from heat, fabrics that repel water, oil and dirt that also have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. Moreover Iskur offers denims that protect from UV rays, insects and fire. Other special functional fabrics measure signals from the body like, for instance, heartbeat like an electrocardiogram (EKG).
Jeanologia launches Sanibox
Jeanologia, a highly specialized company offering sustainable and efficient technology development, is launching Sanibox, a sanitization technology certified to eliminate Coronavirus from textiles, apparel, workwear and footwear. The treatment guarantees a 98% sanitization level and is certified by CSIC (Spanish National Research Council the largest public research institution in Spain and the third largest one in Europe).
