“We are keen on acting in two different, though complementary, directions. On the one side we are focused on offering new chemical and environmentally friendly solutions and, on the other, on developing new collaborations with different partners–be them, for instance, brands, creative studios and schools–that can be highly inspiring for the market. In both cases we aim to help our clients differentiating themselves in a highly competitive market where many players are often offering very similar products,” said Alberto De Conti, head of fashion division, Rudolf Group, while also referring to Hub 1922, the group’s own R&D and creative studio based in Busto Arsizio near Milan (also read here).
Among one of its latest solutions, Rudolf has just worked at Rucogal, its newest family of auxiliaries for cradle-to-cradle processing. The project sticks to responsible chemistry principles and supports overall sustainability by recycling of PET bottles into polyester yarns, improving the dyeing of recycled polyester and injecting new chemical auxiliaries obtained from recycled PET. “Thanks to our excellent knowledge and special products in the processing of polyester in textile production chain, we have achieved this new family of products,” said De Conti. “Because of this development, recycled PET bottles and flakes can be returned to the technical cycle as perfectly washed material and even reused for the production of auxiliaries for sustainable, moisture management without attacking new resources.”
Among the group’s newest development projects, Hub 1922 also recently hosted its “Cool with a Conscience Workshop,” held one the eve of Milan’s first Denim PV. For the occasion, it presented three collaboration projects.
One collab, carried ahead with Tonello, a global leading manufacturer of technology for garment finishing, combined Rudolf’s conscious chemistry with Tonello’s Metro new integrated system for environmental assessment and impact measurement.
A second initiative, A Life in Indigo, was a creative denim exercise conceived and directed by students of AMFI (Amsterdam Fashion Institute) and executed by Hub 1922 on Candiani fabrics. Each five-pocket jean aimed to express different imaginary characters’ personalities including, among others, an activist, a homeless person and a drummer.
A third one, The Unexpected Association, was inspired by a US Navy raw denim bag that each soldier was given and personalized according to his own taste, need and character. Creative consultant Labor Studio mixed different pieces from reproductions of those historical bags aged with Hub 1922 chemical agents and created a selection of innovative denim items.
