Since the late ’70s, using pumice stones for the laundry process has become the standard for accelerating the natural aging of jeans. Adding sandpaper brushing over seams, edges and specific areas has also become widespread as it helped give further contrasts to jeans.
Jecostone System is a newly developed treating technology that aims to become a more sustainable, easier to achieve, safer and cheaper alternative to traditional finishing methods. It was recently developed by denim expert insiders Floriano Arcaro and his son Alvise, owners of Open Door Studio, in collaboration with Gruppo Itexa, a manufacturer of abrasive components.
The new patented formula promises authentic abrasion, contrast and vintage effects on garments while it significantly reduces the use of water by 80% compared to regular washes, along with a cutting of electricity as it achieves the same final result in faster times, therefore consuming less water and without using pumice stones, the company explains.
The system is based upon a full permeable drum abrasive coating that can be installed and replaced in any industrial and sampling machines and can be used for up to 60 cycles.
