The last edition of Denim by PV held in Barcelona for the very first time in Hall 8 of Fira Montjuïc on 22 and 23 May, welcomed 4,479 visitors, reflecting a 45% attendance increase compared to the May 2013 edition.

This 14th edition of Denim by Première Vision welcomed about 100 exhibitors (5% more than May 2013): weavers (45%), manufacturers, launderers and finishing companies (23%), accessory makers (22%) as well as machine builders, fiber producers and spinning companies, along with technology developers.

Buyers and creative staff form jeans brands, stylists, and denim and fashion luxury labels participated in the show. Among them were: Levi’s, Pepe Jeans, Scotch & Soda, True Religion, Acne, Lacoste, Gérard Darel, Zara, Mango, Bershka, Zegna, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Sisley, Diesel, Edwin, JBrand, G Star, 7 for All Mankind, Chevignon, Esprit, El Corte Ingles, Marks & Spencer, H&M, Hugo Boss, Hudson Jeans, Marc by Marc Jacobs, The Kooples, Tiger of Sweden, French Connection UK, GAP, Chloé, Gant, Wrangler, Guess and Urban Outfitters.

About 72% of the visitors were made up by an international audience and all of them promised to return next season. European attendance increased distinctly. With 70% of visitors (+35% more than May 2013), Europe remained the most represented region at the show. German visitors marked a remarkable increase (+34%), closely followed by Italian (32% more than May 2013) and Spanish visitors (total of 28%). The United Kingdom accounted for 5% attendance. A significant interest from Northern European countries and Scandinavia, markets specialized in premium denim, have maintained a stable presence, when compared with the previous seasons, scoring 8% of total visitors, with the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Denmark in the lead.

Ranking 4th among the visiting countries this year was France. Important French brands and companies of the sector participated, as Belgian-Indian weaver Uco-Raymond noted. “We ran into brands that seldom or never came to the Paris shows, but who put the Barcelona trip into their agendas.”

A remarkable North American attendance was registered with an exceptional augmentation of 33% visitors from this area. First of all, the United States registered an increase of 24% (over May 2013), but also Canada doubled its number of visitors over the last year.


Alongside Europe and North America, countries from the Middle East and North Africa - led by Tunisia and Morocco - were also well represented, respectively accounting for 13% and 4% of total visitors. The most important presence was registered by Turkey, registering a participation increase of 68%, compared to May 2013. The next edition of Denim by PV is scheduled to take place at the same location in Barcelona on November 19-20, 2014.
