Traditional Italian sports brand Sergio Tacchini has joined forces with Parisian newcomer label Egonlab for a long-term cooperation. The two Sergio Tacchini managers Romain Pottier and creative director Dao Yi-Chow, who are to revive Sergio Tacchini, had discovered the grandparents of the two Egonlab founders Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix on Instagram and contacted the label from Paris. Egonlab was founded in May 2019, the collections are strongly inspired by current trends in art, accordingly the creators see themselves as "visual artists".
For the young designers from France, the cooperation enables them to enter the "sportswear segment and to add another style to the collection". For the collab with Tacchini, the nostalgia and heritage surrounding the emblematic brand was taken up. Iconic models from the 1990s from the Tacchini archives are revived in a modern style with "a touch of Egonlab". The unisex collection comprises 20 pieces, which at the same time make up about 40% of the entire Egonlab collection.
While the design is mainly in the hands of Parisian designers, the choice of materials is the result of a close exchange with Sergio Tacchini and with typical fabrics of the sports brand. The aim is also to achieve greater sustainability: Organic wool and cotton are used, nylon, zippers and buttons are recycled. Production is only made to order in advance to avoid overproduction and to minimize storage.
