Never at loss for a high profile designer collaboration, Uniqlo has once again pocketed a much sought-after name in fashion: From fall/winter ’17, the Japanese retailer will sell a collection designed by Jonathan Anderson, the young London designer behind the J.W. Anderson brand. The range will encompass mens- and womenswear, uniting J.W. Anderson’s Britishness with the everyday comfort and perfection that Uniqlo aims at with its LifeWear concept.

“When I think of Uniqlo, I think of perfectly made products and that people have looked into these very carefully. […] The work with Uniqlo is probably the most incredible example for democratic fashion and it’s nice that my designs will be available for everyone on every level”, said Jonathan Anderson.

“A great share of today’s fashion has a long history and many styles find their origin in uniforms or workwear. The British Isles are a true treasury chamber for this, with duffle coats and fishermen sweaters being only two examples. Through the cooperation with J.W. Anderson […] we can go back to this tradition while continuously developing design and materials further and thereby develop styles with an enduring appeal”, said Yuko Katsuta, senior vice president of Fast Retailing (Uniqlo’s mother company) and head of research & design at Uniqlo.
