The NRW-Forum Düsseldorf is gearing up to host the world’s most spectacular designer catwalks in one theatrical fashion venue from Jul. 26-Nov. 1, 2009.

The “Catwalks” exhibition will recreate the most breathtaking designer shows in recent years, including spectacular shows by Dior, Galliano-style circus performances, dramatic productions of the kind put on by Alexander McQueen, concept performances like those by Hussein Chalayan, and catwalks in the form of tables set for spectacular dinners such as the ones used by Dries van Noten.

Visitors will themselves become catwalk models. By walking along the catwalk, they will become part of a number of major fashion shows, which will be brought to life and transformed into 3D spectacles using video projections and multimedia installations.

“Catwalks” opens on the eve of the fashion trade fairs CPD and Bodylook. Philipp Kronen, Managing Director of Igedo, says: “CPD and Bodylook represent the business aspect of fashion; the NRW-Forum the cultural aspect. With this combination, we are offering our national and international visitors a very special added value.”

In recent years, the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf has hosted both an opulent Vivienne Westwood retrospective and a sparse, minimalist Alexander McQueen catwalk exhibition.

Catwalks will be open from Tuesday through Sunday 11-8, Friday 11-12 am. NRW Forum, Ehrenhof 2, Düsseldorf.
