Designed to bring raw material producers, designers and retailers together and to encourage green changes in the fashion industry, C.L.A.S.S. New York is a new international textile and eco-materials showroom launching on Dec. 11. The launch will also include a roundtable panel discussion entitled “The Tipping Point,” co-hosted and moderated by Barbara Kramer, co-founder of Designers & Agents and D&A GreenMarket, the seminal eco-friendly show out of LA. Topics range from “What is the current state of sustainable fashion?” to “How has the current economic downturn affected designers, retailers and consumer spending?” and “How do we create pathways towards change?” Speakers include Bahar Shahpar, eco-fashion designer and founder of The Four Hundred; Summer Rayne Oakes, model and environmentalist; Dr. Emanuele Bertoli, founder of BerBrand; Elinor Averyt, founder of L.E.A.F. (Labeling Ecologically Approved Fabrics); Sergio Sessini from CADICA Group Spa; and Gokhan Baykam, President and CEO of Relight. C.L.A.S.S. New York's founders are Giusy Bettoni and Sandy MacLennan.
