G-Star Raw continues to pursue its aim to lower its impact on the environment as part of its Raw Responsibility project. The denim brand's winter 2020 collection includes eight styles made with Relz Black Denim that claims to be “the world's most sustainable black denim fabric.”

According to G-Star, this denim is made from pure organic cotton and is dyed and treated without using chemicals that might be harmful for people or the environment. The black, liquid dye and the pigment coating is actually applied to the fabric within a five-step process instead of the conventional eight to ten steps, saving 52% water, 65% energy, 71% CO2 emissions and 14% chemicals.

Relz Black Denim is the first black denim to achieve the Gold Status certification by the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute, a leading nonprofit organization granting the Cradle to Cradle Certification, a globally recognized standard for products that are safe, circular and responsibly produced.

To achieve these results G-Star has joined forces with its longstanding cooperation partners Artistic Milliners and Archroma.

The models will be available online at g-star.com and in the G-Star stores starting November 11.
