The Escape Clothing GmbH, company behind German denim brand Timezone, has acquired the rights to market the premium women’s trouser brand Orwell with retrospective effect from January 1, 2017.

Founded by Gerd Wünsch in 1989, Orwell grew to be a successful player in the women’s trouser business in the 1990, especially thanks to its “wellness pants”, containing a great part of stretchy elastane. After becoming insolvent under its previous owner, the newly founded Isis Fashion GmbH took over the Orwell brand back in 2010. There is no current Orwell collection distributed in the market.

By taking over the brand, Escape Clothing wants to group even more pants competency under its roof and add to the premium side of its offer – whilst Timezone’s core price range is around €99, Orwell’s offer goes up to retail prices of €279.

Escape Clothing’s headquarters in Brannenburg, Bavaria, easily offer the logistical and spacious capacities to house more than just one brand.
