“We decided to open the store as a testament to the designers and manufacturers we love,” says Peskowitz. The name of his shop is, of course, French for magazine, a long trusted source for style and story telling. And, like a glossy print mag, the store Magasin is “a place where some of these premier resources could be seen together and in context” he continues. “We felt as though there were no retailers speaking to men in the specific way we found compelling, sharing a passion for craft, innovation and rarity in a way that gives the clothing credence without taking itself too seriously.”
Like any good service industry, Peskowitz says their store focuses on “parts and labor. We are attracted to brands and collections that used the highest quality materials and hold their manufacturing to impeccable standards. We also look for texture, color, and interesting ideas that can all fit together in our environment.”
Paying particular attention to LA’s booming creative industry, Peskowitz says the store’s clientele consists of both men and women, from LA and, in fact, around the world, who “care about their clothing and care about quality and good stories behind them. Ones that already have a defined sense of style and are looking for interesting pieces to augment their wardrobe.”

With top notch customer service, Magasin takes care of tailoring, has rotating installations featuring like minded brands and offers fans an assurance of not seeing their wardrobe coming and going on the streets of LA. Although the web store is coming soon to better service Magasin devotees both near and far, until then, shoppers will be satisfied with visiting the Culver City location and its industrial and organic elements, natural light, concrete floors and exposed duct work. The same texture that the founders value in their clothing is best exemplified in store with the 20 foot high green wall that warps around and extends to the fitting rooms.
“We are about community here at Magasin,” says Peskowitz. “Our designers and our staff are like family, and we hope to extend that feeling to all of our customers, whether it’s their first time in, or 100th. We want you to feel welcome and spend time with us.”
