On April 2 Silvano Cinelli, founder of Ciesse Piumini, died at age 88 due to the Coronavirus.

The longtime insider and creative entrepreneur from Borgo Buggiano, near Pistoia, Tuscany founded Ciesse Piumini in 1976 giving life to a brand whose name originates from the initials of his name. The brand’s logo, the mythological ligrone, represented the values that always inspired his life–nature, authenticity and freedom.

Ciesse Piumini was the first company to sell goose down cold-protecting jackets and later Gore-Tex variants. Thanks to such innovations, the brand became a market leader in the ’80s and ’90s and one the brands the Paninari loved most.

Fabio Primerano, executive president, Sport Fashion Service, the company behind the brand’s recent relaunch whose 90% was acquired by Italian investment company Mittel in 2019 (also see here), thanked him together with the company’s employees, collaborators, shareholders, clients and suppliers. “Your adventurous, innovative and fearless spirit will be always among us,” he said.
